nQuery provides a library of clinical trial design templates to help users get started quickly with sample size calculations across a wide range of study designs. Each template includes sample data and, where available, an accompanying video tutorial to guide you through the setup and methodology.
Templates are organised by design category, covering the most commonly used approaches in clinical trial planning. To browse the full library and download templates, visit the nQuery Templates page.

What templates are available?
The template library is grouped into the following categories:
Popular Models — Includes templates for randomization in clinical trials, adaptive clinical trial design, and clinical prediction models. These are among the most frequently used starting points for trial planning in nQuery.
Regression Models — Covers linear regression, logistic regression, Cox regression (proportional hazards), and 2-level hierarchical designs. These templates are suited to trials where the relationship between variables or time-to-event outcomes are of primary interest.
Hybrid Bayesian/Frequentist — Includes templates for Bayesian assurance (normal means and two proportions), mixed Bayesian likelihood intervals, and consensus-based criteria. These are designed for users incorporating Bayesian thinking into their trial planning.
Sample Size Re-Estimation — Provides templates for group sequential design, unblinded sample size re-estimation, and blinded sample size re-estimation for both two-sample mean and two-sample binomial scenarios.
Categorical Endpoints — Templates for binary data endpoints, ordinal data endpoints, and contingency table endpoints, covering the most common categorical outcome types encountered in clinical trials.
Non-Inferiority Designs — Includes templates for normal endpoints, binomial proportion parallel designs, survival parallel arm, and count parallel arm designs.
How do I download a template?
All templates are available to download from the nQuery website. Visit the Trial Design Templates page, select the template relevant to your design, and complete the short download form. Your template and sample data will then be made available for download.
Are video tutorials available?
Yes. The majority of templates are accompanied by a video tutorial that walks through the design methodology and how to apply the template within nQuery. Links to these tutorials are provided alongside each template on the download page.
Who should I contact if I need further assistance?
If you require support beyond what is covered in the templates or tutorials, please submit a support ticket and a member of the nQuery team will be happy to assist.
